This adapter is for powering your vacuum and nothing else. It cannot charge Stanley or Dyson batteries and must never be connected to a charger or the vacuum’s dock. Always take the battery out of the adapter before charging, and charge it on the original charger made for your Stanley FATMAX V20 battery.

Which Dyson V8 models does this adapter fit?
It fits the Dyson V8 range: HH15, SV10, SV10D, SV10E, SV10K, SV25. It does not fit the Dyson V8 Cyclone, SV55.
My battery says 20V. Will it run my Dyson V8?
Yes. 20V is what a Stanley FATMAX V20 battery measures off the charger with no load; 18V is what it holds in use. The adapter takes it from there, so your Dyson V8 gets the power it is built for.
Will this fit my other Stanley batteries?
Only Stanley FATMAX V20 batteries. Stanley also sells Stanley FATMAX 18V (Old), and those use a different socket: same brand, different rail and contacts, so they need their own adapter. Compare the rail on your battery with the photos before ordering.
Will my Dyson V8 run as long on your Stanley FATMAX V20 battery?
Runtime comes from the battery, not the adapter: a 5.0Ah Stanley FATMAX V20 battery lasts roughly twice as long as a 2.5Ah one. For this pairing use 3.0 Ah or more, because a smaller battery can sag under what a Dyson V8 draws and cut out before it is empty.
Could this damage my Stanley FATMAX V20 battery or my Dyson V8?
Used with undamaged, compatible equipment it is not expected to. This adapter has its own Battery Management System, which cuts power before the battery is drained too far, so it protects the battery even where the battery has no protection of its own. Stop using it if the adapter becomes unusually hot, the contacts look damaged, or the vacuum behaves oddly.
Can I charge through the adapter?
No, and it should never be attempted. The adapter carries power one way only, out to the Dyson V8: there is no charging circuit inside it, and the vacuum’s dock cannot charge through it. Always take the Stanley FATMAX V20 battery off the adapter and charge it on its own charger.
Does it work with third-party Stanley batteries?
Usually. What matters is the socket, not the badge: if the battery slides on and locks the way an original does, the adapter takes it and the Dyson V8 runs. Aftermarket moulding does vary, so if yours looks unusual send us a photo and we will check before you order.
How much does it add to the Dyson V8?
159 g (5.6 oz), plus your battery, which sits under the handle where the original battery was. You notice the extra weight on stairs or when reaching up high; on floors it soon feels normal.
